Internet Access and printing capabilities
The Internet can be a powerful and versatile education tool. It can improve communications among patients, families, and healthcare providers. Use of the public Internet by visitors to the Oncology Learning Centers is permitted and encouraged where such use is for cancer education purposes, and supporting the goals and objectives of the organization. The use of the Internet gives you the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services that, when combined with discussions from your physician, can enable you to make appropriate health decisions. We also offer high quality printers that will allow you to take the information home to share with your loved ones.

State of the Art Audiovisual equipment and teaching aids
We offer the latest in computer and audiovisual technology, including power point projection capabilities, audio and Internet conferencing, and VCR projection screens. In addition to educational materials, we offer our patient’s and families complementary therapies to support them as they journey through their cancer treatment:

Music Therapy
Music therapy is the use of music to aid the physical, psychological and emotional support of illness or disability. We offer music therapy in which individuals can bring their own CD’s to the treatment center, or the use of portable headsets and Rhythmic Medicine CD’s. In addition, we occasionally offer special sessions featuring the healing power of music.

We offer TV and VCR units in each of our chemotherapy treatment rooms. We have a wide range of educational and entertainment videos for viewing. Those individuals receiving chemotherapy in the Medical Oncology areas, are also encouraged to bring videos on the day they receive treatment.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for therapeutic effects. Essential oils have been revered for their fragrance and their restorative effects on the body, mind, and spirit for thousands of years. Aromatherapy is one of the components of healing provided at select oncology locations within Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Nutrition counseling
For cancer patients, optimal nutrition is important. Cancer can deplete the body's nutrients and cause weight loss. Cancer and cancer treatment can also have an adverse impact on the appetite and the body's ability to digest foods. These factors may leave some cancer patients in a vulnerable condition -- high nutrient need, and low-nutrient intake. Our registered dieticians and nutritional counselors are available to help educate you and your family on ways to maintain your nutritional balance.
