Hispanic, Latino, and Immigrant Health Program
(El programa de la Salud del Hispano, Latino e Inmigrante)
The Hispanic, Latino, and Immigrant Health program (HLIHP) is designed to help the Hispanic, Latino, and Immigrant community to have access to medical care, social services, health education, screenings, and prescription assistance for those who qualify. The program Coordinator supervises the program's daily activities, teaches a variety of health related topics, provides screenings, interprets for clients at medical appointments when the Health Liaison is unavailable, and makes contacts with restaurants, churches, community centers, and organizations. The Health Liaison makes the medical appointments, accompanies clients to their appointments, and provides medical interpretation. The Promotora (Community Health Liaison) serves as a resource person providing information about services and programs. She also teaches hand washing, dental care, healthy living, and baby care classes.
