As we continue to strive to be the healthcare provider of choice in the area, we are making sure that we are equipped with the best tools for diagnosing conditions, as well as the most experienced registered nurses and technologists dedicated to providing the best possible care.

Our radiologists are all board certified by the American College of Radiology.

Radiology Services:
Diagnostic Radiology
Digital Mammography - Screenings
DEXA Scan (Bone Density)
CT Scan
MRI
Nuclear Medicine
Ultrasound & Non Invasive Vascular Lab

Diagnostic Radiology
State-of-the-art equipment, such as CR (computed radiography) and digital radiography. Our technologists are all ARRT certified. In addition to general radiography, our services include:

Myelogram
Arthrogram
Upper GI studies
Barium enema
Swallowing function studies
Dexascan (bone density imaging)

Digital Mammography
With digital mammography, you can expect:

  • A much shorter exam time - approximately half the time of film-based mammograms
  • Greater accuracy and detection - with improved contrast between dense and non-dense tissue
  • Instantly correctable scans - to ensure a clear image and avoid having to schedule another appointment

DEXA Scan (Bone Density)
A bone density scan is a low dose x-ray that checks an area of the body such as the hip or spine for signs of mineral loss and bone thinning. It is a simple, painless and non-invasive procedure that takes approximately 15 minutes to perform.

VFA
A new, advanced digital bone densitometry system provides the image quality, accuracy and precision required for the earlier detection of osteoporosis. Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) is a low-dose x-ray scan of the spine that provides high-resolution images for the precise detection of the smallest vertebral deformities to detect osteoporosis at its earliest stage, enabling immediate treatment to minimize deterioration of bone structure.

CT Scan
To reduce radiation dose during ct exams, we have established dose limits for both adult and pediatric patients, using guidelines established by ACR.

The CAT Scan department offers on-site 24-hour coverage.

Our CT department houses a ight speed multi-slice scanner. This scanner offers optimal scanning with multiple slices or images per second. In addition to conventional scanning, it has the ability to do compound tomography angiography (CTA), lung windows and bone reconstruction. This state-of-the-art multi-slice scanner improves image quality, dramatically reduces scan time and offers new diagnostic possibilities. We offer a full range of services from diagnostic imaging to CT guided interventional procedures. Imaging may be enhanced using oral contrast or intravenous contrast as indicated by diagnosis and patient status.

MRI
The MRI unit at St. Elizabeth Boardman is a 1.5T system that offers a wide range of exams, including magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) studies. We utilize EXCITE HD software to provide higher resolution, speed and scanning techniques. This software provides high quality images, which will deliver a more definitive diagnosis. Patients are encouraged to bring a CD of their choice to enjoy during the exam.

Nuclear Medicine
Our nuclear medicine department offers state-of-the-art nuclear medicine equipment for both Planar and SPECT imaging. All diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are available including the treatment of patients with low-grade non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Ultrasound
Our ultrasound offers a full range of services including:

Carotid duplex ultrasound
Venous duplex ultrasound (for DVT, vein mapping and venous incompetence)
Visceral vascular duplex ultrasound
General ultrasound procedures such as thyroid, abdomen and pelvis
Interventional procedures such as biopsies, drainage aspirations, thrombin injections and radiofrequency ablations

Our non-invasive vascular lab is staffed by a vascular technologist and nurse. Services include:
Peripheral arterial physiologic tests (extremity pressures, doppler wave forms and exercise testing)
Arterial duplex ultrasound
