Family Medicine Residency
The Family Medicine Residency program at St. Joseph Health Center has a total of six residency spots - typically accepting two new residents into the program each year.
Each resident is on call every fifth or sixth week - depending on the number of residents in the program at the time. Each resident is required to serve one month per year as a night float/house officer. This consists of Monday through Friday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. (no holidays or weekends.) During that month there are no call or clinic responsibilities.
We offer a very family friendly environment and residents are treated like practicing physicians - well respected by hospital staff and other attendings.
The program offers a fully functioning simulation lab with a wireless SimMan and many other simulation models on which residents train monthly.
Didactics are held every Tuesday morning and followed by Family Medicine board review. We participate in the Ohio University COM CORE monthly Residency programs.
All of our graduates pass the Family Medicine Board exam and we have outscored the rest of the state programs on our yearly OSCE in four of the last six years.
