Founded in 1979, Hospice of the Valley was the area's first health care agency dedicated to caring for the terminally ill and their loved ones in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties.
In January 2001, Hospice of the Valley became an affiliate of Humility of Mary Health Partners. Through this affiliation, Hospice of the Valley is able to continue to provide care for the patients regardless of their ability to pay.
In 2006, Hospice of the Valley’s Hospice House opened. This unique facility was designed to meet the requirements of a terminally ill patient as well as provide emotional support for the family. The facility provides a homelike environment that meets specific clinical needs.
While remaining at home is the goal of hospice care, many times it is not possible. Patients may not have a capable or willing caregiver, families may live out of town, staying safely in one’s home may not be an option or simply pain needs to be managed.
Hospice House is located at 9803 Sharrott Road just east of Western Reserve Road, on 14 wooded acres with plenty of trees, wildlife and streams. Residential in appearance, it has 16 patient rooms with garden views, a chapel, children’s playroom, family lounges, gazebo and resource library.
