Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation gives women larger breasts using an implant that is placed under the breast tissue. Breast implants are made of a silicone shell filled with either silicone gel or a saline (a salt water solution). Both types of implants are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). At your consultation, Dr. Cash will explain the extensive information provided by the FDA, and the advantages and limitations of each type of implant.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
A breast lift, technically called a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts. It can also reduce the size of the darker area around your nipples (the areola), which may become enlarged or stretched after pregnancy or nursing a baby. Breast sagging is often caused by 1 or more of the following conditions:
  • Pregnancy
  • Nursing a baby
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Massive weight loss
  • Gravity and age

Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that replaces breast tissue. Women seeking breast reconstruction may have lost a breast due to cancer or suffer from a breast deformity from injury or congenital defects. Breast reconstruction is normally covered by medical insurance. Check with your provider for details.

Breast Reduction
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of very large, heavy breasts. In addition to providing relief from the self-consciousness associated with overly large breasts, this procedure can provide relief from the physical problems as well. Women often choose breast reduction surgery for one or more of these reasons:
  • Decreasing the size of their breasts
  • Balancing their overall figure with a more proportioned breast size
  • Reducing or eliminating associated medical problems, such as neck and back pain, difficulty breathing, skin irritatiions, and limitations to physical activity
  • Increasing self-confidence through an enhanced appearance

Gynecomastia
Approximately 40 to 60% of men are affected by a condition known as gynecomastia, to varying degrees. This medical term describes breasts in men that have a "woman like" appearance. Sometimes only one breast is affected. Gynecomastia frequently occurs without any known cause. It may be related to hormonal abnormalities, certain drugs or prescription medications, or obesity. If you are a man with excessively large breasts, chest reduction surgery can create a flatter, more masculine looking contour for your chest.
